Pastor Joe Yucha was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia and is the oldest of four kids. He attended Wake Forest University and graduated with a major in Psychology and minor in Philosophy. Attending VA Synod youth events and being a camp counselor at Lutherock were formative to his faith (though he didn’t know how much at the time!)

After feeling the call to ministry, Pastor Joe moved to Chicago to attend LSTC (the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago) where he met his wife Christine.  His internship congregation in the western suburbs of Chicago called him to stay on as their Associate Pastor. Pastor Joe moved in Winston-Salem in August 2022 to start as Associate Pastor at Augsburg. He and Christine have three kids, Harrison born in 2020, and twins Freddie & Marcus born in 2023.

Pastor Joe is passionate about building community, asking questions, and hearing how people feel called to be God’s presence in the world.
