Update #2

Since our first update, the winter storm caused a brief delay in meetings. However, the committee reconvened on February 9th more enthusiastic than ever and excited to continue moving forward in the call process.

Recently, the committee has focused on planning the all-congregation study event on February 22nd. We hope you have seen information about this event in the weekly emails and during worship services. The committee strongly encourages everyone to attend so we can gather broad input about the most important ministry tasks and gifts we seek in our next Associate Pastor.

Following the congregational event, the committee will carefully review and synthesize the feedback received in order to finalize the Ministry Site Profile, which will be submitted to the synod.

As always, please feel free to reach out to any member of the Call Committee with questions. We also ask that you continue to pray for discernment for all involved in this call process.

Update #1

Welcome to the Call Committee Corner! Every few weeks, the call committee will share an update on the process of seeking and calling a new associate pastor. As a reminder, the call committee is made up of Dick DiBlasio (Chair), J.K. Curry, Anna Everhart, Dave Kline, Karen Kooken, Kent Reichert, Carol Thornton, and Pastor Paul.

The committee has met three times so far. The first meeting focused on getting to know one another and gaining an overview of the ELCA call process. For those interested in learning more, visit the NC Synod website on Calling a Pastor.

The second meeting centered on planning the process ahead. The committee was grateful to welcome Deacon Wendy Roberts, who oversees the call process for the NC Synod. She met with the committee to explain the Synod’s role, outline expectations, and share the support that will be provided throughout this journey.

The most recent meeting marked the beginning of one of the most exciting phases of the process: the congregational study. This is the phase where congregational involvement is especially important. Using a variety of methods, the call committee will gather input to help identify the gifts, qualities, and characteristics most needed in our next associate pastor.

With that in mind, you are invited to attend the upcoming event:
