Worship with Us at Augsburg

The center of our faith life.

Each Sunday, we worship at 8:30 am and 11:00 am. In worship, we gather as a community to celebrate God’s presence, listen to God’s Word, and respond to God’s call to service in our world. A nursery is provided, and worship lasts about an hour.

We follow a liturgy similar to many other churches.

The word “liturgy” means “work of the people,” which reminds us that worship should be participatory. Our worship includes four sections: Gathering, Word, Meal, and Sending. The 11:00 am service follows this traditional pattern of worship. The 8:30 am service includes all of the components above, but in a less formal manner compared to our 11:00 am service. For either service, feel free to come as you are.

Following the Revised Common Lectionary, each week we read the same scriptures being read in many other churches. In addition to two services on most Sundays, we celebrate special festival days throughout the year such as Reformation, All Saints, Christmas Eve, Epiphany, and Good Friday.

We celebrate communion every Sunday.

All who are accustomed to receiving communion (including children) are welcome to come to the table to receive communion each and every Sunday morning.

Augsburg's adult choir.

The gift of music.

Martin Luther considered music a gift from God second only to the Word of God, and as such, we place a high value on the music in our worship services. Adult choirs lead worship at each service. Our cantor is a gifted organist and leads the adult choirs. Our music associate lends her talents participating as a worship leader, directing the handbells choir, and directing children's music programs.

Augsburg's renovated sanctuary, center aisle

Refreshed worship space.

Our recently renovated worship space beautifully focuses our attention on the baptismal font and the altar table where communion is celebrated. The traditional design remains intact but has been thoughtfully updated for comfort, acoustics, lighting, and sound. And the sanctuary is accessible for those with mobility issues, and our sound system includes AuraCast® listening support.

Outdoor Gathering Space.

During summer months, the early service moves outdoors to our Outdoor Gathering Space (OGS). This natural amphitheater is located along the western border of campus. The OGS has a central plaza, concrete benches and lawn grass. Worshiping beneath the trees, with grass under your toes is a refreshing way to connect with God's creation. Feel free to dress appropriately, bring a stadium cushion or yard chair, or a blanket, and a hat.
