Pastor Katie B. Bryant was called to Augsburg in 2021 as the Pastor of Youth and Emerging Ministries. Her responsibilities include overseeing formation for children and youth (ages 0 to 18), and all the ways Augsburg share's God's love with our community and beyond. She has a hard time writing about herself--but loves to share stories of the people of God with young and old alike.
Pastor Katie grew up in Alabama, graduated from Auburn University, and came to NC via Duke Divinity School (where she met her husband Kris). Pastor Katie is an ordained Elder (aka Pastor) in the United Methodist Church and serves at Augsburg through the full-communion partnership between the ELCA and the UMC. She is a founding board member of City with Dwellings (which began in the Overflow Shelter at Augsburg)--and has led winter overflow shelters for the City of Winston Salem since 2014 (the most recent being a Family Overflow Shelter this winter). Pastor Katie's calling is to constantly challenge the church to see how God is calling them to be in community with their neighbors.
She is married to Kris Bryant, and they have two almost adult children, Micah and Claire. When not serving alongside the people of God, you will find Pastor Katie fostering puppies, hiking trails, going to concerts, cheering on her kids and other people's kids, and playing in the dirt in hopes that something will grow!
